San Diego
Tourism Platform

A Go-To Resource For Locals — And Visitors Alike. This recent (August 2015) project entailed the design, development of a "smart" platform, which refined options based on a User's choices as they navigated through the site. It's an ongoing resource & tool for locals & travelers: visitors near & afar, vactioners and business/conferencers. The new responsive website includes the redesign & migration of an existing leisure travel blog to the domain.

The platform's design and functionality is also intended to drive traffic and increase revenue for the site's business/vendor members. Which then provides an added value to existing members and incentives for new business/vendor memeberships.

Detail & Profile Pages

La Jolla, Pacific Beach page entices the User with imagery, blog content, video, an instagram feed and activity suggestions. The User clicks the [+] sign next to activities, businesses and offers, which then adds them to their “wish list.” The User sees a bed and breakfast displayed on the page as nearby and could click on the link to that business page.

The Bed and Breakfast profile page displays contact information, shows nearby non-competing attractions and businesses as well as providing an instagram feed that the business owner updates. The User can add this B&B to their current wish list as one of their options.

Conferences / Business Travelers

A corporate administrative plans an itinerary for their sales team, who are attending an off-site in San Diego. They review a few hotels on an approved list provided by corporate and then adds them to a wish list. The User then adds several attractions and restaurants to the list for the weekend after the off-site.

The User selects "Share By Email" which allows them to send the wish list to their team via this sharing function.

Team Commenting. The team leaves comments on the wish list, which a team member later uses to choose hotels and make reservations. The User also adds meeting times and locations and hotel details (hotels were booked through corporate travel).

Customized App Integration

Once the User(s) has an itinerary planned, they will receive a sharing URL to put in their company’s conference iOS app. The sales team can then use the app to see details for the trip. As they do, they can see other points of interest inserted into the itinerary.
